The Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) is planning to host its Annual Convention in Sri Lanka later this year.

Over 400 industry leaders and media delegates will be attending the annual sessions scheduled to be held from November 11 to 13, in Colombo.

The decision to hold the TAAI Convention in Colombo this year is an outcome of Tourism Development, Wildlife and Christian Religious Affairs Minister John Amaratunga’s invitation to the Indian travel agents in the aftermath of the April tragedy to show solidarity by holding the convention in Sri Lanka.

TAAI President Sunil Kumar stated that the Managing Committee of the association at a meeting on September 30 in Hyderabad agreed and approved holding the convention in Sri Lanka as an expression of solidarity.

The Hotels Association of Sri Lanka (THASL) and Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators have welcomed the convention being held in Sri Lanka.

Led by the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau, both the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority and Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau are working together to provide the necessary support for a successful convention. India is Sri Lanka’s largest tourism source market at present.
