India’s HCL Technologies (HCL), a leading global technology company, yesterday opened doors to its largest facility in the country at the state-of-the-art Cinnamon Life complex in Colombo.
Intending to occupy 80 percent of ‘The Offices’ at Cinnamon life, the technology company has taken up 10 floors at present and will occupy 10 floors at a later stage so that it can accommodate 4,000 employees.
The architectural design and world-class interiors of HCL’s new development centre have been delivered by Tikri Bibile Associates (TBA), supported by WIDAC Commercial Interiors Pvt Ltd and Leema Associates.
From its new location, HCL will provide IT services to global clients in the areas of digital applications and system integration services, product development and support, and infrastructure management services including digital workplace solutions.
The ceremonial opening of the facility was graced by Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa and Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Gopal Baglay, alongside senior officials of HCL Technologies and John Keells Holdings (JKH).
“With Cinnamon Life’s strategic location at the heart of Colombo, this iconic signature structure reflects HCL as a next-generation global technology company that constantly reimagines business for a digital age,” said HCL Technologies Corporate Vice President Srimathi Shivashankar at the opening ceremony held yesterday.
Commenting on HCL’s expansion, Finance Minister Rajapaksa commended the entity’s interest in Sri Lanka, the opportunities it provides to the local IT talent pool and the commitment to uplift the pool to become global IT professionals.
“The company’s commitment and growth drive in Sri Lanka is also reflective of the long-term business resilience of Colombo’s ascent as a commercial hub in South Asia,” stressed Rajapaksa.
HCL entered Sri Lanka in 2020 with the aim to make it a global technology and IT services delivery hub for some of the largest corporations in the world.
In Sri Lanka, HCL Technologies recently surpassed a milestone of recruiting more than 1,000 local employees, including recent graduates and seasoned industry professionals.
Reaffirming the commitment to Sri Lanka’s IT space, HCL Technologies Chief Financial Officer Prateek Agrawal stressed the island nation is one of HCL’s key global delivery hubs and the entity is “excited” to expand operations.
HCL Technologies is an Indian multinational information technology services and consulting company, headquartered in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
HCL had consolidated revenue of US$ 10.82 billion. Over 187,000 of its ideapreneurs operate out of 50 countries. It has offices in 50 countries including United Kingdom, United States, France, and Germany with a worldwide network of R&D, innovation labs, and delivery centres.
It has over 187,000 employees and its customers include 250 of the Fortune 500 and 650 of the Global 2,000 companies.
For the 12 months ended 30 September 2021, HCL had consolidated revenue of US$ 10.82 billion.
