Institute of Chemistry successfully concludes Open Day

On July 6, 2024, the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon hosted a highly successful Open Day at Adamantane House, Rajagiriya, attracting a large number of prospective students and their parents. 

The event kicked off with a welcome address from College of Chemical Sciences Dean Prof. Chandani Perera, who greeted the attendees and set the tone for the day. 

The institute’s Immediate Past President Prof. Namal Priyantha followed with an introduction to the Institute of Chemistry, highlighting its unique qualities and the exciting career opportunities available to graduates with a chemistry degree.

Allied Sciences Department Head Dr. Keerthi Attanayake discussed what makes the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon special and the diverse career paths in chemistry. 

Enrolment Coordinator Dr. Kushan Weerasiri provided detailed information on the degree and diploma programmes offered, including the BSc Hons in Chemical Science and the Graduateship in Chemistry Programme. 

Institute of Chemistry Ceylon Treasurer Prof. Priyani Paranagama covered the financial criteria for 2024, ensuring the prospective students and their families were well-informed.

The Open Day also featured a Chemistry Magic Show, which delighted both students and parents. The event concluded with a Q&A session, allowing the attendees to interact with faculty, current students and alumni and providing an opportunity for immediate student registration.
