Inter-City Rotary holds meeting in honour of visiting President

The Inter-City Rotary meeting in honour of the visiting Rotary International President Ian Riseley was held recently. 

The event was organized by the Rotary Club of Colombo West on behalf of the Rotary International District 3220 at the newly opened Shangri-La Hotel Colombo. A large gathering of over 400 members from Rotary Clubs across the country patronized the event.

The intercity meeting began with a Rotary song, performed by President of the Rotary Club of Colombo Metropolitan, Rtn. Rukshan Perera, his own composition, which was well received.  

Thereafter, the District Interact Representative, Int. Mohamed Awoon and District Rotaract Representative Rtr. Anuradha Senanayake gave brief overviews of the state of Interact and Rotaract in District 3220, respectively.  

The District Governor, Ven. Dr. Somawansa Thero then addressed the meeting and invited the Rotary International President, Rtn. Ian Riseley to address the gathering.  Riseley briefed the members of the new vision and initiatives of the Rotary Foundation and fielded questions raised from the local membership.

The Gold sponsors for the event were; OTIS Elevators and Guardian Acuity, while the Bank of Ceylon, National Asset Management, Janashakthi,  DFCC Bank and Nawaloka were the Silver sponsors.
