KPMG Mid Afternoon Chat webinar tomorrow

The topic of August 20th Mid Afternoon Chat webinar at 3.00 p.m. conducted by KPMG Sri Lanka Academy will be ‘Ramifications of new tax rules on dividends’. 

The latest amendment to the new IRA, introduced a formula to tax dividends in the hands of the shareholders whilst providing the option to the shareholders to invoke Advance Income Tax (AIT) too. The new system has introduced complexities and ambiguities unforeseen by the Policymakers. 

The webinar will unravel many unanswered issues looming in the air and the difficulties experienced by corporates in the context of relevant provisions in the IRA in relation to dividends. In addition, the session will also trace the economic rationale and legal framework for imposing taxation on corporates, undistributed profits and distribution of profits, using different rates in the context of international practices. Further tax issues pertaining to script dividends, dividends in species, dividend to and from non-residents would also analyzed.
