Lanka IOC gets new Chairman

Lanka IOC PLC yesterday announced the appointment of a new Chairman to its board, following the nominations by its parent company Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, with effect from April 5, 2023.


Accordingly, the Colombo Stock Exchange was yesterday informed of the appointment of Sujoy Choudhury as Chairman of Lanka IOC, in place of Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra.

Choudhury is a mechanical engineer and has an MBA (Finance) from Jadavapur University, Kolkota. He possesses more than three decades of rich experience across various functions of the oil industry like engineering, retail sales and petrochemicals (marketing).


Before his elevation as Director (P&BD), Choudhury was heading the IndianOil’s Punjab State office, where he was in charge of all petroleum activities in the States of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh and in the Union Territories (UTs) of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Chandigarh.


He has been instrumental in strengthening the oil infrastructure of the state/UTs, introduction of winter grade diesel for high altitude areas, development of specialised lubricants for the FMCG industry, introduction of geotextiles and steel concrete composite structures for construction in hilly terrains, etc. He is also a Non-Executive Chairman on the board of IndianOil Total (Pvt.) Ltd, IOT Biogas (Pvt.) Ltd and CII Northern Regional Committee on Energy. 


Choudhury is also a Non-Executive Director on the board of IndOil Montney Ltd (a subsidiary of IndianOil’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Indoil Global BV, Netherlands).
