The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) and Labour Relations Ministry request the Sri Lankans who intend to migrate to foreign countries for employment to temporarily postpone their plans, due to the coronavirus.

The SLBFE said the embassies of Sri Lanka have been informed to take the necessary action on Sri Lankan workers currently working in the countries where the coronavirus has spread.
The virus has spread in more than 115 countries around the world, as of today.

The Asian and European countries, including the Middle East, Italy, South Korea and Japan, where most of the Sri Lankan migrant workers work, have been affected by the coronavirus.

A special telephone number has been introduced in Sri Lanka missions for overseas workers to receive information. In addition, information can be obtained by calling the SLBFE hotline 1989.
