While calling for a fair price hike, Laugfs Gas PLC this week assured sufficient LPG supplies for all of its customers when the country opens up on 30th this month.

“Immediately after the price increase was granted, we placed supply orders and the ship carrying LPG reached Hambantota Port on 19th of this month, and we have already started distribution. It’s going to be a continuous supply, unless we run out of US dollars. At this moment of time we decided to put the country first and fight for a fair price afterwards,” Laugfs Gas PLC Deputy Chairman, Thilak De Silva told Mirror Business.

In a stock exchange filing on Wednesday, Laugfs Gas Chairman W.K.H.Wegapitiya noted that the firm accepted the LPG price increase  granted by the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) under protest while reminding CAA’s obligations under the pricing formula approved by the Supreme Court in SCFR 163/2007.

“We have once again apprised the CAA of its legal obligations and have requested them to approve price revisions in line with the Supreme Court approved pricing formula. We are committed to protecting the rights of our stakeholders, including our shareholders, and will continue to serve the people of Sri Lanka to the best our ability,” he stated.

Meanwhile, De Silva said that Laugfs Gas would continue to import LPG from its usual supplier in the Arabian Gulf while appreciating the offer extended by the State-owned Litro Gas to supply LPG to them.
