Maximus bags Bronze at Industrial Excellence Awards

Maximus (Pvt) Ltd., won the Bronze Award in the paper and associated products category at the Industrial Excellence Awards organised by the Industrial Development Board (IDB). 


The Managing Director of the company, Thusitha Ranasinghe received the award at the ceremony held at Waters Edge under the patronage of President Rajapaksa. 


Maximus Pvt. Ltd entered into business in 1997 as a company that produced paper from recycled waste paper and waste material. Maximus gained international recognitions as the first ever company to use elephant dung in the production of paper. Maximus has also entered into a partnership with Treckpack, an international company, to use their waste in the production of paper. 


There is a high demand, both locally and internationally, for craft paper and white back box boards manufactured by Maximus which is used to make bags and lunch boxes. Maximus exports paper made from 100 percent recycled materials to many countries such as the United States, Canada, Belgium, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom. 


Maximus Pvt Ltd, which has won many awards both locally and internationally, have received media attention from international networks such as the BBC and Newsweek. 


“Production of paper is a possible avenue to generate foreign exchange earnings. Recycled paper also offers a good solution to felling trees for the production of paper. I would like to thank all our staff members for their support in making this a success”, said Ranasinghe.
