Nat Rothschild calls Sri Lanka “a true gem with great future”

British-born financier and a member of Rothschild family, Nathaniel Rothschild said his recent visit to Sri Lanka was to explore the country’s suitability as a manufacturing location for electronics, while calling the island nation “a true gem with a great future.”


He also said he was highly impressed by the government and its pandemic response as well as the businesses he met with.

“Just finished a trip to learn first hand about SL’s suitability as a manufacturing location for electronics. Came away highly impressed by the govt. of President Rajapaksa and its pandemic response as well as the businesses I met. Sri Lanka is a true gem with a great future,” Rothschild tweeted.


The 49-year old, who is popularly known as Nat, is the heir apparent to the centuries-old European banking dynasty and the only son of Jacob Rothschild, the 4th Baron Rothschild.
Nat, who is based in Switzerland, is the Executive Chairman and the largest shareholder of UK-listed Volex PLC, a global integrated manufacturing company.
