National Chamber workshop on ‘Import procedures and documentation’

 The National Chamber of Commerce will conduct a one-day  workshop on ‘Import procedures and documentation”with  Special attention on WTO Goods Valuation Agreement, WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) and Goods Classification and  Harmonized System on  February 28 from 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. at the National Chamber Auditorium, Colombo 10.


The workshop is designed for those who are involved in importing, buying and sourcing from overseas including sales, purchasing, production and accounts staff. It provides an overview of the principles involved in successful importing, tips on how to avoid problems and ensure smooth running of contracts, profitably and   gives practical information that will help protect your Company’s interests and maximize your opportunities in the international market.


Subjects that would be touched on are: Introduction to imports, planning,  international trading, sales contract,  imports restrictions, terms of sale,  incoterms, payment terms  (including Letter of credit and document collections), clearance of commercial cargo through Customs - sea cargo and air cargo, clearance of gift parcels, unaccompanied passengers baggage,  samples through Customs, Free Trade Agreements, WTO goods valuation agreement , WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA)  goods classification.  


The resource person will be T. Raviendrarajah, Director of Customs with over 34 years’ experience in this trade.
