National Tourism Awards return as industry rebounds

Sri Lanka Tourism is set to relaunch the National Tourism Awards, with the 7th edition scheduled for 2024, marking the return of a key event aimed at recognising excellence in the country’s travel and tourism sector.

The awards, which were last held in 2018, are designed to boost industry standards, promote best practices, and drive innovation, while also highlighting the contributions of businesses and individuals to the sustainable development of tourism in Sri Lanka.

Originally launched in 2008, the National Tourism Awards grew in prominence, drawing increased participation and recognising emerging products and services within the sector. However, the event was disrupted by the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks and the Covid pandemic. The upcoming 2024 edition signals a significant milestone as the industry rebounds.

The awards span multiple categories, covering key segments such as accommodation, restaurants, tour operators, airlines, MICE tourism, marketing, education, training, and service excellence.
