National tea sales average dips in November

The National Tea Sales average for the month of November 2022 recorded Rs.1,383.05 (US $ 3.80), declining from Rs.1,483.65 (US$ 4.10) recorded in the month of October 2022. 
In comparison to the November 2021 average of Rs.623.18 (US $ 3.11), the total average shows a significant increase of Rs.759.87 year-on-year (YoY) whilst gaining 0.69 in US dollar terms as well.

Forbes and Walker Tea Brokers in its latest tea report said the November 2022 average of US $ 3.80 records a decrease of US $ 0.30 when compared to October 2022 average of US $ 4.10.


The analysis of the respective elevational averages for the month of November 2022 show the High Grown average of Rs.1,340.75 (US $ 3.68) recorded a decrease of Rs.111.46 month-on-month vis-à-vis the highest ever High Grown average for a calendar month of Rs.1,452.21 (US$ 4.01) of October 2022. 


When compared to November 2021 average of Rs.611.33 (US $ 3.05), a significant increase of Rs.729.42 is recorded YoY, whilst in US dollar terms too records an increase of US $ 0.63. 
The Medium Grown average for the month of November2022 totalling Rs.1,177.49 (US $ 3.23) recorded a decrease of Rs.92.02 month-on-month vis-à-vis Rs.1,269.51 (US$ 3.51) of October 2022. When compared to the November 2021 average of Rs.556.07 (US $ 2.77), shows a significant increase of Rs.621.42 YoY, whilst in US dollar terms records an increase of US $ 0.46.


The Low Grown average of Rs.1,448.15 (US$ 3.98) in November 2022 records a decline of Rs.106.71, from Rs.1,554.86 (US $ 4.29) recorded in October 2022. It records a significant increase of Rs.804.94 YoY, with a gain of 0.77 in US dollar terms.


All elevations record significant gains during the period of January-November 2022 when compared to the corresponding period of 2021, both in Sri Lankan rupee and US dollar terms.
