New Chairman appointed to Lanka Hospitals

Vidya Jyothi Dr. Bandula Chandranath Wijesiriwardena has been appointed as Chairman of Lanka Hospitals Corporation PLC, with effect from December 27, 2019.

Dr. Wijesiriwardena (MBBS Col, MD Col, MRCP UK, FCCP, FACP, FRACP (Hon), FCMSA (Hon)) is a consultant physician in internal medicine.

After a career in the government service for 33 years, of which 24 years as a consultant, he left the Health Ministry to work full time in the private sector.

He now works as a consultant physician at Durdans Hospital, Colombo.

He served as a Director on the board of Lanka Hospitals Corporation PLC, from February 2012 to February 2015 and later he was appointed to the board of Durdans Medical and Surgical Hospital in 2017.

Dr. Wijesiriwardena was awarded Honorary Fellowship by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and Colleges of Medicine of South Africa, in recognition of his contribution to the field of medicine.

He is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and Ceylon College of Physicians (FCCP).

He was awarded the title Vidya Jyothi in 2019, in recognition of his contribution to the field of medicine.
