New start-up airline ‘Fly Lankan’ to operate flights to Maldives

The new start-up airline and Sri Lanka’s third scheduled international operator ‘Fly Lankan’ will be commencing operations with flights to the Maldives by end of this month.


This was revealed by Fly Lankan CEO Dr. Arosha Fernando during a special meeting held at the High Commission of the Republic of Maldives in Colombo in the presence of the Ambassador of Maldives to Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Seychelles, South Africa & Australia, Omar Razak.


 “As per our Business Model, we are in discussions with OSM Holdings Group, Global Park and Galactic Holdings to partner with us in our Maldivian operation,” the CEO Fernando said.


He also highlighted that the airline will be commencing operations with flights to a total of six international destinations after Maldives including India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia and the UAE. 

The airline is expected to kick off operations in two phases. Under the first phase, operations are expected to begin in January to the aforementioned six destinations. Operations under the second phase will commence in March, with additional destinations.
