State Minister of Aviation and Investment Zone Development D.V. Chanaka yesterday assured there wouldn’t be a shortage of aircraft fuel despite the ongoing fuel crisis in the country due to the foreign exchange shortage.
He said the national carrier SriLankan Airlines already has enough fuel reserves for the next one and a half months.
He further said, last week, orders were placed for further fuel purchases paying US$ 32 million, and SriLankan Airlines also has the dollar reserves required to purchase fuel.
He averred that his ministry has taken necessary measures to ensure that the airlines which fly to Sri Lanka face no difficulties in acquiring the required jet fuel.
