Nov. tourist arrivals surpass October record

  • SL welcomes 29k tourists in first three weeks of Nov.

Sri Lanka has welcomed about 29,000 for the first three weeks of November, already surpassing the record hike for the year that was witnessed in October.


The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) data showed that October welcomed a total of 22,771 visitors.


Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga expressed confidence in Sri Lanka ending 2021 with tourist arrivals between 150,000 and 180,000. A steady increase in tourist numbers is observed after the health protocols in place were relaxed for vaccinated travellers starting October 01.
While a total of 24,567 tourists visited Sri Lanka from November 01 to 18,

the country has welcomed approximately 4,500 visitors over the period of three days ending November 21.


Including the arrivals recorded this month thus far, for the whole of January to November 21, 2021 period, Sri Lanka has witnessed an influx of over 89,000 tourists.
