Oct. national tea sales average up despite production drop

National sales average for tea leaped by Rs.24.37 for the month of October from the previous month, an increase despite a dip in production.


While the sales average totalled Rs.643.70, in comparison to October 2019 average of Rs.525.43, the increase is Rs.118.27 year-on-year (YoY).


The elevation analysis of the same month shows that high-growns recorded an increase of Rs.44.42 month-on-month (MoM) when compared with September 2020.


Compared with the corresponding month of the previous year, a significant increase of  Rs.122.81 YoY 
is recorded.


Mediums averaged Rs.568.14 for October 2020, recording an increase of Rs. 30.10 MoM.


When compared to October 2019 average of Rs.438.32, the figure represents a substantial increase of Rs.129.82 YOY. Low-growns, totalling Rs.678.26 for October 2020 recorded an increase of Rs.16.65 when compared with September 2020. 

Here again, the average shows a significant increase of Rs.116.36 YoY when compared to Rs. 561.90 of 
October 2019.


Cumulative analysis show that for the January to October 2020 period, a national average of Rs.625.35 was achieved, which is an increase of Rs.85.16 compared with the corresponding period of the previous year.
