The One Island Thousand Treasures (OITT) campaign was launched yesterday to generate content that would help narrate Sri Lanka’s compelling story to
global travellers.

The campaign is launched by Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts in partnership with Dentsu Grant and support from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
The OITT campaign aims to unveil unknown stories behind Sri Lanka and showcase the unique experiences the destination has to offer.

The initiative also targets the creation of new business opportunities for local communities, including the revival of local art
and crafts.

A key objective of the campaign is to promote the niche, lesser known experiences and the history of the country, so that the industry stakeholders can move towards recovery at a faster pace.
“With this initiative, we are taking giant steps to elevate the perception of Sri Lanka amongst the rest of the world. Our vision will be achieved by raising awareness of the country’s hidden treasures that go beyond the usual tourist experience,” said Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts CEO Mikeal Svensson. The project will be carried out in two phases, the first being the collection of entries that will be over a span of three months and the second is the promotion of unique experiences.

Commenting on the effort, SLTDA Chairperson Kimarli Fernando said the initiative is timely, as the authority has embarked on a massive social media drive, where destination Sri Lanka is being promoted via travel influencers from across
the world.

“The campaign leverages the growing trend of content creation and emotional storytelling. Such an initiative is of paramount importance to promote Sri Lanka as the most sought-after travel destination,” Fernando said.
Those interested can share stories, discoveries and experiences in their locality on the social media platforms of the OITT, tagging @CinnamonHotels and #OneIslandThousandTreasures.

As a reward, the contributors and content creators are entitled to promotional discounts, giveaways and getaways, courtesy of Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, should their submission be selected for
the campaign.
