Sri Lanka will go ahead with the development projects despite the challenges the government is facing currently, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe
said on Wednesday.

Wickremesinghe came up with this remark last evening during an inspection tour of a tyre factory being constructed by Rigid Tyre Corporation in the Wagawatte Industrial Zone.

“The country faced natural disasters such as floods and droughts while the Meetotumulla garbage mountain collapsed adding to the unfortunate events.

Everyone thought the economy would collapse with all these calamities but it did not. The development projects will go ahead despite the challenges,” he said.

Wickremesinghe said the development had entered into a decisive phase.

He said the country needs investors such as Rigid Tyre to keep the economy going and to bring in the much-needed foreign currency while providing employment opportunities.

The new factory of Rigid Tyre Corporation is to provide 3000 jobs when completed in 2020.
