PickMe’s Mevan Peiris makes it to Forbes ‘30 Under 30’ Asia 2020 list

Sri Lanka’s Mevan Peiris has put the country under fresh spotlight on the global stage by making it to the prestigious Forbes ‘30 Under 30’ Asia 2020.


Peiris, who is the Head of Operations of PickMe Foods was listed in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2020 under the Consumer Technology category.


The 28-year old has been successful in steering the locally founded entity to have onboard its platform 780 restaurants and food vendors who cater to over 80,000 monthly users of the food delivery startup.


Under the leadership of Peiris, PickMe Foods was commended by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for its agility in crisis response and effective, safe and reliable essential item delivery service during the COVID-19 crisis. The startup was one of the first to step forward to deliver essentials to many during this ongoing crisis the island nation is faced with.


Peiris holds a BSc in International Relations and a Diploma in Economics from the University of London and is an Alumni of St. Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia. He is a recipient of the prestigious ‘Saravanamuttu Memorial Prize’ awarded annually to a single student demonstrating excellence and future potential.


Peiris has been a member of the Global Shapers Colombo Hub since 2014. 

 He represented Sri Lanka as a Youth Delegate at the Commonwealth Youth Forum 2013. He was also a facilitator at the World Conference on Youth 2014.


In 2014 Peiris represented Sri Lanka at the World Mock Mediation Championship in Chicago and won an award for ‘Outstanding Advocate’.In 2019 Peiris was appointed to the Advisory Council of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shaper Community for a term ending 2021. (SAA)
