President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has assured the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) that all necessary action will be taken immediately to avert the electricity crisis prevailing in the country.
PUCSL Chairman Janaka Ratnayake yesterday said the Treasury and Central Bank would make sure to facilitate the import of fuel for the generation of electricity with immediate effect, as per a directive of the president.
Finance Ministry Secretary Sajith Attygalle said the Treasury made payments for a diesel shipment yesterday. Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila said 8,000 MT of diesel would be released for power generation.
