Rashmi Paranavitane takes over CFA Society Sri Lanka reins

CFA Society Sri Lanka (CFASSL), part of the global network of CFA Institute member societies leading the investment profession across 160 countries, announced the appointment of Rashmi Peiris Paranavitane, CFA, as its 11th President, following the Annual General Meeting held in Colombo. She succeeds Aruna Perera, CFA. A seasoned finance professional with over 18 years of experience in investment research, financial analysis, and consulting, Rashmi brings a wealth of expertise and leadership to the society.

Rashmi Peiris Paranavitane, CFA, earned her charter in 2012 and has since played a significant role within CFA Society Sri Lanka, contributing her skills and insights as a board member and committee leader. She has notably served as Chair of the Capital Market Awards and, most recently, as Chair of the ESG Committee, where she has been pivotal in advancing sustainability efforts in Sri Lanka’s capital markets. Her leadership was instrumental in introducing the Best ESG Reporting Award at the 2024 Capital Market Awards, recognizing corporates for exemplary practices in sustainability reporting.

Speaking on her appointment, Rashmi said, “I am honoured to assume the leadership of CFA Society Sri Lanka, whose mission to advocate the highest standards of ethics, continuous learning, and professional excellence remains critical as the industry continues to evolve amidst many challenges. I look forward to serving our membership and key stakeholders, together with the board in pursuing our core mission and strategic initiatives.”

Currently, Rashmi serves as a Senior Manager at Stax, a global management consulting firm working with corporate and private equity clients across industries such as technology, healthcare, business services, and consumer/retail. Prior to joining Stax, she worked at Moody’s Analytics Knowledge Services (formerly Amba Research), where she served as Global Head of Projects and Transitions. In this role, she led a team of equity research analysts across delivery centers in Sri Lanka, India, and China, supporting top-tier investment banks and asset managers covering diverse sectors.

Rashmi is a CFA Charterholder and holds a BSc (Hons.) in Business Administration from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
