In its annual report for 2023, Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited (AASL) announced a record-breaking revenue of Rs.38,376 million, AASL Chairman Eng. Athula Galketiya said.
He told the media that there was a downturn between 2019 and 2022, due to the pandemic but a significant increase in passengers using Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) for immigration and emigration activities began in 2023.
“To provide these services, AASL invested Rs.90,740 billion. In 2023, AASL recorded a net profit of Rs.28,122 billion after paying government taxes and achieved a commendable operational profit of Rs.19,315 billion for the financial year 2023,” Galketiya said.
AASL manages and operates BIA, Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport, Colombo International Airport Ratmalana, Batticaloa Airport, Jaffna International Airport and Sri Lanka Airport and Aviation Academy. “AASL’s commitment extends beyond airport operations, providing services to international airlines and infrastructure management, encompassing crucial services like search, rescue, firefighting and aviation security at our international airports.
Moreover, the company plays a central role in providing air traffic services, aeronautical information services, communication services and aeronautical aids, ensuring the safety and security of aircraft and passengers within the Colombo flight information region,” he said.
