SEC Commissioner Naresh Abeysekera resigns

Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) member Naresh Abeysekera has resigned, Mirror Business learns. 
Abeysekera was appointed as a Commissioner in 
January 2020.


He was instrumental in the digitalization process of the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), as he functioned as the Chairman of the SEC/CSE Joint 
Digitalization Committee. 


Abeysekera is the Founder and CEO of SECQUORO, a business transformation and implementation company, with a software arm developing next generation disruptive digital platforms.


He was the Group CFO of MillenniumIT that revolutionised global capital markets powering majority of global equity trading and part of the London Stock Exchange Group and a member of its global leadership team under a HBR 100 Ranked CEO. 


He was also instrumental in leading IPOs and securing regional accolades in financial reporting and ERP implementations.


Abeysekera also co-founded the Institute of Internal Auditors Chapter to strengthen the risk and governance knowledge framework in 
the country. 


He is a Fellow Chartered Accountant, Chartered Management Accountant (UK), Chartered Global Management Accountant (UK) and holds a MBA from the Prestigious Postgraduate Institute 
of Management.
