‘No risk, no gain’ is a popular slogan. Although board members, senior managers and shareholders know that there are strategic advantages to taking risks in a business environment and that realizing growth requires taking a certain degree of risk, it is essential to strike a balance.
Should the board be directly involved in managing risk or should the role of the Board be limited to risk oversight of management and corporate issues that affect risk?
Whatever the answer, taking a focused approach to risk management by the Board should be more than a compliance requirement.
Today’s complex and volatile commercial, business and political climate demands that boards step up their game with risk management taking centre stage at board discussion. Failure to do so can have disastrous consequences.
Join the discussion on May 25 from 5 pm onwards at the Cinnamon Grand as SLID presents a panel discussion moderated by Dilshan Rodrigo (COO HNB), with a keynote address by Aroshi Nanayakkara (CEO Global Consulting Company/ Non-Executive Director Hela Clothing (Pvt) Ltd.), who will join Steven Enderby (Group CEO, Hemas Holdings PLC) and Isuru Gunasekera (VP John Keells Group/Head of Sustainability, Enterprise Risk Management & Group Initiatives) on the panel.
