SLT-Mobitel bags two TMForum Digital awards in Denmark

SLT-Mobitel was honoured with two key prestigious accolades at the TMForum Digital Transformation World - DTW24 IGNITE Awards recently, in Copenhagen, Denmark. 


The awards include Best Moonshot Catalyst - Growth Challenge for the project SmartHive xG in recognition of its excellence in developing a blueprint for deploying cost-effective 5G Services for Smart City Environments and Open Innovation Outstanding Catalyst – Use of TMForum Assets for the project ‘GenAI Powered toolkit for Network and Service Management’ in recognition of enhanced user experience through Gen AI powered Service fulfilment. 


As an apex body for driving innovation and collaboration, the TM Forum Catalyst Programme serves as a testbed for groundbreaking ideas within the communications ecosystem, promoting a culture of co-creation and association. 


This year, over 50 Catalyst projects competed, showcasing groundbreaking innovations developed through the fusion of technology.


Moonshot Catalyst project teams specifically collaborate globally across continents to create technically excellent solutions with game-changing business models and societal impact to win the Moonshot Catalyst team awards. Forty-two members from nine global players, three of which are communications service providers, coming from five countries, represented.


SLT-Mobitel (Fixed and Mobile), Botswana Telecom (BTC), BrandMed, Enocta, Resolute Education,

Covalencedigital, Etiya and N-able collaborated as partners, engaging from Sri Lanka, India, Botswana, South Africa and Turkey. The winning project, SmartHive xG, showcased an Open Digital Architecture (ODA)-compliant, AI-native Smart City blueprint, specifically targeting the iconic Smart City development in Sri Lanka. 


The SmartHive xG project envisions utilising SLT-Mobitel’s future-ready 5G network infrastructure to build smarter, sustainable and greener cities, thereby enabling Sri Lanka to progress towards digital advancements. 


The award for Open Innovation Outstanding Catalyst – Use of TMForum Assets for the project Gen AI Powered Toolkit for Network and Service Management was led by SLT-Mobitel (Fixed and Mobile) and included eight  other champions and six participants with complementary backgrounds in network, OSS/BSS, GenAI/ML, no code development and service orchestration. The Catalyst projects provide a basis to undertake an operational transformation by a Generative AI-based Toolkit encompassing a Large Language Model and Knowledge graph.
