SLT announces appointment of new directors

Sri Lanka Telecom PLC (SLT) last week announced the appointment of two Independent Non-Executive Directors and two Non-Independent Non-Executive Directors to 
its board.

Accordingly, the two Independent Non-Executive Directors are Lalith Seneviratne and Mohan Weerakoon, PC, and the two Non-Independent Non-Executive Directors are Ananda Kithsiri Seneviratne and Ranjith Ganganath Rubasinghe.

Lalith Seneviratne is an engineer by training. He has over 35 years of experience in the corporate field, primarily with Motorola Corporation, during which he developed Motorola’s relationship with SLT that enabled SLT to provide telephone service to remote areas. He has held other various positions throughout his career.

Mohan Weerakoon, PC, is a senior legal practitioner who counts over 36 years of experience as a civil and criminal counsel. He was appointed to the Presidents Counsel in 2017. He has served as a Director of Sinhaputhra Finance PLC and Deputy Mayor and Councillor of the Municipal Council of Matale. He is also the Senior Legal Counsel of Sinhaputhra 
Finance PLC.

A.K. Seneviratne is a special grade officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS). He has held several Director posts representing the Treasury in several Boards coming under the purview of Secretary to the Treasury, Ministry of Finance.

Ranjith Rubasinghe has been with SLT for over 18 years and possesses experience in the fields of organisational development, telecommunication and IT, human resources, marketing and education. He has served as the Vice President of the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL) and has also served as a Council Member of the University of Colombo. He’s a founding Director and the current Chairman of TRACE.

SLT PLC is chaired by newly appointed Rohan Fernando, and the Chief Executive Officer is Kiththi Perera. 

The present board of directors comprises of Non-Executive Director Chan Chee Beng, Independent Non-Executive Director Lawrence Paratz, Non-Executive Director Lai Choon Foong, Independent Non-Executive Director Lalith Seneviratne, Independent Non-Executive Director Mohan Weerakoon, PC, Non-Independent Non-Executive Director A.K. Seneviratne and Non-Independent Non-Executive Director Ranjith Rubasinghe.
