Sajith and SJB economic team meet with CB Governor, Treasury Secretary

The Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandala lWeerasinghe and the Treasury Secretary Mahinda Siriwardana yesterday met with Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa to apprise him of the economic crisis faced by the country.   
The meeting was also attended by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) economic team consisting of MPs Dr. Harsha de Silva, Eran Wickramaratne and Kabir Hashim.

“Had a three hours meeting with regard to Sri Lanka’s economic crisis, the situation is grave. It is going to be an unbelievably gigantic challenge for anyone to save Sri Lanka,” Dr de Silva said in a twitter message.
“This was the assessment that I came up with after I saw the figures and the projections,” Dr. de Silva told Daily Mirror clarifying on his tweet.

When asked about the foreign reserves situation, the MP said the figure given by the Central Bank Governor and the Treasury Secretary was very low. Meanwhile, Premadasa said SJB will take on any responsibility as long as it does not involve working with any crisis instigators.

“We have always offered our unstinting support to overcome this crisis. It’s good to finally have a productive meeting with CB Governor and Treasury Secretary,” Premadasa said.
