Sanjaya Mohottala yesterday assumed duties as Director General of the Board of Investment (BOI) of Sri Lanka, the investment promotion agency of the Government of Sri Lanka.

Mohottala was a Managing Director and Partner at Boston Consulting Group. He was responsible for corporate development, principal investors and private equity practices and led the transport and logistics practice across Asia Pacific.

He holds a BSc from the Moratuwa University, an MBA from the Anderson School of Management of UCLA, USA and is a Fulbright Scholar.

In his address to the senior BOI staff yesterday, after assuming duties, he shared his vision how Sri Lanka’s position can be enhanced as an attractive investment destination.

He also spoke of the need to grow the ICT/knowledge sector of the economy.

Further, the new DG stressed the importance of working with the major state-owned enterprise (SOEs) with a view of ensuring technology transfers and upskilling the workforce.

He also shared some of his views on the way the BOI could operate more effectively by making the organisation a true one-stop shop.

He said the focus would be to embrace digital technology and also strengthen work processes to ensure that the investor gets the best possible service from the BOI.
