Senfin sponsors Kelaniya University Stock Market Challenge

Senfin Securities Limited and Senfin Asset Management (Pvt) Limited served as the premium sponsor for the Senfin | UoK Stock Market Challenge 2024, held at the University of Kelaniya organized by the Students’ Association of Financial Management and Department of Commerce & Financial Management.

 
This competition brought together some of Sri Lanka’s brightest young minds from various schools nationwide to engage in an immersive experience in understanding of financial markets.

The event sponsorship by Senfin underscores the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, with a special focus on nurturing future leaders in finance and investment. Through such initiatives, Senfin aims to inspire students to pursue finance-related careers while equipping them with practical skills and knowledge.
This year’s challenge saw participation from schools across Sri Lanka, with students displaying phenomenal knowledge, interest, and critical thinking. Among the participating schools, Royal College Panadura, Bandaranayake College Gampaha, Sri Palee College Horana, and Richmond College Galle advanced to the final round. Ananda College Colombo and Royal College Colombo competed in a closely contested tiebreaker, with Royal College Colombo ultimately securing a spot in the top five by a narrow margin.

In the final standings, Sri Palee College Horana emerged as the champion, followed by Bandaranayake College Gampaha as the first runner-up and Royal College Panadura as the second runner-up. The competition was exceptionally close, with all schools presenting a formidable challenge and achieving final scores separated by only a slim margin.

In recognition of the achievements of Sri Palee College, Horana, and Bandaranayake College, Gampaha, Senfin Securities Limited organized a luncheon for the two teams, offering students a unique platform to engage with industry professionals and acquire valuable insights into the finance sector. Distinguished guests like Prof. C. Pathirawasam, Prof. K. G. M. Nanayakkara, Dr. C. Senarath, N. P. K. Ekanayake, R. M. S. S. Rathnayaka and W. M. W. S. Wijesundarawere among the participants.

Moreover, Senfin Securities Limited has established a strong partnership with the University of Kelaniya, offering internships to its students.
