Nusith Kumaratunga officially assuming duties as Chairman of Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation


Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation (SLIC) has appointed Nusith Kumaratunga as its new Chairman, effective October 18, 2024. 

Kumaratunga officially assumed his duties on October 22, 2024, taking the helm of the country’s largest and most established insurance provider.

Kumaratunga brings extensive experience in finance, management and entrepreneurship to his new role. A Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka since 1997, he is also a member of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka. He holds a B.Sc. Special Degree in Estate Management and Valuation from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

In 2000, Kumaratunga founded his audit firm Nusith Kumaratunga & Co., which has become well-regarded for its expertise in audit services, tax planning and business consultancy, particularly for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The firm has provided crucial financial management and business growth advisory services, supporting the development of SMEs across the country.

Kumaratunga has also contributed to the growth of Sri Lanka’s SME sector through his involvement in various development projects, including the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce’s World Bank-funded SME Development Facility Project. He has been a key resource person for several institutions, delivering training programmes and offering expert guidance to entrepreneurs nationwide.
