Sri Lanka Tourism is gearing up to create a positive profile of the island nation at the upcoming ‘Three Cities Road Show’ in India so that travellers from that country will be confident in adding the destination to their travel list going forward.
Sri Lanka Tourism said that at the event, the focus will be on promoting a myriad of tourism experiences in Sri Lanka and converting potential travellers to make bookings, while highlighting the positive message that Sri Lanka is open for leisure, business, and MICE tourism. The roadshow will take place from September 26 to 30. The first roadshow will be held at the Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi, and the second and third will be held at St Regis Hotel, Mumbai, and Taj Krishna Hotel, Hyderabad.
Each roadshow will include B2B sessions facilitating numerous discussions followed by an Evening Networking event which will also help to improve business partnerships, Sri Lanka Tourism said in a statement to the media. The target audience at these roadshows will be tour operators, media, travel influencers, corporates, and trade associations in India. The key focus will be to pitch destination Sri Lanka not only for its beauty, but also to stress that the island nation is safe and secure, and adheres to all the necessary health and safety guidelines.
A delegation will be led by Tourism Minister Harin Fernando and will comprise over 50 local travel agencies and hotels, in addition to national carrier SriLankan Airlines, and Mastercard. At the events, Sri Lanka will also feature Sri Lanka Tourism Brand Ambassador, former cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya, and singing sensation Yohani De Silva.
Further, during the road shows, Tourism Minister is expected to meet several high-profile business leaders, tourism stakeholders, and corporates while engaging in several media interviews with leading Indian media houses. India has generated over 80,000 tourist arrivals to the country so far and it is expected to double these numbers by 2023. Sri Lanka Tourism said it is confident that the roadshows will add more value to create a positive mindset regarding Sri Lanka and its diversity of attractions, cultural value and travel opportunities, enabling Indian tourist arrivals to the destination.
