The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has joined forces with the Sri Lanka Institute of Hotel Management (SLITHM) to roll out a mobile registration service, aimed at supporting and officially recognising the tourism service providers across the island.

The programme will kick off with an awareness session at the Hikkaduwa Urban Council auditorium on November 5.

The SLITHM said it would conduct a professional training programme on November 6, in an effort to improve the service standards and operational expertise of the registrants.

The tourism providers registering for the programme will be able to reap several benefits, including formal recommendation letters from the SLTDA, electricity concessions and visa recommendations, to ease the logistical requirements.

Additionally, the registered businesses will gain legal recognition and access to free publicity, to expand their reach and visibility in the market.

Moreover, the programme will open doors to extensive networking opportunities by allowing businesses to connect with both national and international partners.

The registered providers will also become eligible for various financial and non-financial forms of support, such as grants and advisory services, to improve the sustainability of their business operations. (NR)
