Sri Lanka patronizes to handover Asia Pacific region development report to UN

The report for the development in Asia and the Pacific region is scheduled to be handed over to the United Nation with the patronage of Sri Lanka. 
The report was prepared following the conclusion of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) held in Bangkok, Thailand last week.
Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake was appointed as Chairman of sessions and thereafter, the report was prepared under the patronage of the minister. The conference was held in Bangkok on April 28 and 29. The keynote address of the conference was also delivered by Karunanayake.
The final report was prepared after having several rounds of discussions with the member nations of the region. This report includes challenges that stand in the way of Asia and the Pacific nations in their journey towards development. Recommendations that explain how to face such challenges have also been added to the report. The report is scheduled to be handed over to the UN this month.
Sri Lanka received prominence at this conference. The commitment made by Sri Lanka towards development, its financial discipline and transparency were recognized at the conference.
