Sri Lanka prepares to take part in ‘GulFood 2023’

  • EDB calls for applications from exporters under select categories
  • Says objective is to promote F&B products of SL in ME, Africa, and South Asia 

Sri Lanka is gearing to participate in the 28th GulFood Exhibition to be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) next year, for which the Export Development Board (EDB) announced yesterday it is inviting applications from exporters under select categories.


The GulFood 2023 will be held at the Dubai World Trade Center from 20 to 24 February 2023. The event is one of the largest food and beverage exhibitions in the world, bringing together, on one platform about 5,000 exhibitors  and over 100,000 visitors from nearly 200 countries.


In a notice published this week, the EDB said the objective of Sri Lanka’s participation at GulFood 2023 is to showcase and promote the island nation’s food and beverage products mainly to the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA) region. 

Accordingly, applications are invited from exporters of processed and fresh fruits and vegetables, coconut-based products, spices, and spice mixture, confectionary and bakery products -especially convenient food products, and certified organic food products and food supplements.


The cost of spaces and construction, together with the cost of exhibits, airfare, hotel accommodation, and internal travel will have to be borne by the participants, the EDB said.


Applications for participation at the upcoming GulFood Exhibition, which can be downloaded from the EDB website, must reach the EDB by registered post on or before 19 August 2022.
