Sri Lanka records nearly 24,000 tourist arrivals in first four days of December

Sri Lanka welcomed 23,958 tourists in the first four days of December, according to the provisional data from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA). 

This brings the total tourist arrivals for the year to 1,828,831.

The daily average for December currently stands at approximately 5,980 arrivals.

So far this month, the Russian Federation leads as the largest source of tourists to Sri Lanka, contributing 18.4 percent of total arrivals. India follows closely, with 18 percent, while the United Kingdom ranks third, with 6.6 percent.

The other key markets include Poland, China, Australia, Germany, France, Bangladesh and the United States.

The SLTDA has set an ambitious target of over 230,000 tourist arrivals for December. Under its conservative estimate, the authority aims for 236,485 visitors, while an optimistic scenario projects 256,389 arrivals.
