Youngship Global Leadership Summit 2024, a landmark international event to shape the future of leadership in the maritime industry, will be held in Sri Lanka from November 16 to 19, the Youngship Sri Lanka announced last week.

Youngship Sri Lanka and YGLS 2024 Chairperson Maleena Awn, addressing a press briefing in Colombo said that Sri Lanka has been appointed as the host country for this prestigious event, which is an immense privilege that reflects the nation’s growing prominence in the maritime sector.

“We are excited to showcase and promote the rich culture, tourism and unique offerings of Sri Lanka to a global audience. From the bustling streets of Colombo to the historical charm of Galle, attendees will experience the best of Sri Lankan hospitality, cuisine and heritage,” Awn said.

Youngship Sri Lanka Secretary Aruni Wijepala said the event is a global premier for Youngship International and will gather young professionals, industry leaders and global experts to engage in dynamic discussions, innovative activities and transformative training sessions.

“We are expecting representatives from over 25 countries to attend the summit, bringing together a diverse and dynamic group of young maritime professionals and leaders. The international event is planned to be hosted every other year in different Youngship chapters across the world, fostering a spirit of global collaboration and shared learning,” Wijepala said.

A host of sponsors have come forward to power the event, including Meridian Maritime Services as Platinum sponsor, Advantis as Gold sponsor, McLarens Group and PIL as Silver sponsors, Helanka Vacations as tour sponsor, whilst Ceylon Association of Shipping Agents and WISTA Sri Lanka as partner associations, SAGT as lanyard partner and Naveklo as segment sponsor.
