Sri Lanka to play host to 55th ADB Annual Summit

The Cabinet of Ministers this week approved a resolution to move forward with necessary measures to conduct the Annual Summit of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in May next year in Colombo.


The proposed summit is to be held for 04 days commencing from May 2, next year drawing 3, 000 — 4, 000 participants including over 30 finance ministers from the member countries, governors of the central banks, executive officers from major international banks and companies, local and foreign distinguished guests
and journalists.


Accordingly, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa in his capacity as the Minister of Finance sought the approval of the Cabinet of Ministers on Monday to take necessary measures to conduct ADB’s annual summit next year and to enter into a MOU with the bank in this regard.

In addition, the Government Information Department noted that a number of other applicable conferences and ceremonies have been scheduled in parallel to the main event. 
The Board of Governors of ADB in November 2019 adopted a resolution to hold its 55th Annual Summit in Colombo in May, 2022.
