Trade Promoters Limited (TPL), the authorised distributor in Sri Lanka and the Maldives for global entity Cummins Inc. (diesel generators and engines for marine, construction and industrial applications), was awarded a prestigious award at the virtual Cummins Asia Pacific Distributor Principals Conference, held recently.

The company was presented with an award at the recent virtual Cummins Distributor Awards (Asia Pacific) for ‘Right Environment’, recognising its advances in gender diversity, financial assistance and for going the extra mile for staff.

TPL recorded a 300 percent increase in the number of females in the business since 2015 and recently appointed its first female in the senior management for the position of parts manager, TPL Sri Lanka. This year the company celebrated the International Women’s Day with a programme that discussed the challenges women face during the COVID pandemic such as mental health, domestic violence, childcare and financial issues.

Cummins Division Sri Lanka and the Maldives Chief Operating Officer Prasanna Belpage stated, “We are thrilled to have been recognised for our initiatives towards gender diversity and women empowerment. At TPL, we strongly believe that gender is no barrier to those who set their mind to making a difference.” TPL was also recognised for offering full financial assistance to staff for medical support to undergo major treatments including heart surgery and cancer treatments. So far in 2021, TPL has assisted two staff members for bypass surgery and one for thyroid radiation treatment.

Lastly, TPL was recognised for providing care packages for staff returning from the Maldives after long rotations away from their families.

“This award goes to our dedicated management team, whose unwavering support resulted in TPL receiving this award. We look forward to implementing more HR-focused initiatives and to taking TPL to even greater heights in the future,” commented TPL Chairman Rohan Fernando.
