Tara Kodituwakku wins WIM Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year Award

Tara Watergate Hotel owner Tara Kodituwakkuwas was recently felicitated with the Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year Award, at the annual WIM Awards in recognition of the courageous women in the field of entrepreneurship and management in Sri Lanka. 


The awards ceremony was hosted by WIM (Women in Management), an organisation dedicated to empowering women entrepreneurship and management. The awards ceremony was held under the patronage of State Minister Sitha Arambepola at Shangri-La Colombo.


“We launched Tara Watergate Hotel in 2018 but before long the entire world faced a global pandemic, disrupting all activities and plans. However, with a systematic plan and stellar management, we were able to continue our operations even during this time,” said Kodituwakku.


“The secret to our success is always maintaining excellence. I would like to dedicate this award to my valuable staff and our clients.” 


During the height of the COVID 19 pandemic, Kodituwakku started a craft store by the name Jolly Crafts, in order to showcase the talents of unemployed women in the area. 


Tara Watergate Hotel is a boutique hotel with 14 luxury rooms as well as several luxurious chalets. Featuring a beautiful swimming pool, gourmet restaurant and superior hospitality, Tara Watergate Hotel is built in a scenic environment facing the Tissa Lake in Tissamaharama. Further, plans are underway to open a brand-new holiday resort in the Rakwana area.
