Tourism Ministry appoints 22-member advisory committee to revive sector

The Tourism Ministry announced the appointment of a 22-member committee to provide expert advice in helping the crisis-struck industry to move towards a path of revival.


The newly appointed Tourism Advisory Committee by Tourism Minister Harin Fernando comprises ​​not only industry veterans but also experts in the field of law, archaeology, strategic management, Ayurveda, wildlife, and banking, and finance.


The members are: Harsha Panduka Keerthinanda, Priantha Fernando, Shirantha Peiris, Chalaka Gajabahu, Kishu Gomes, Suresh Rajendra, Rohan Abeywickrama, Dharshana Tharanga, Mahen Kariyawasam, Buddika Hewawasam, Dr. Nirmal De Silva, Prof. Raj Somadeva, Aritha Wickramasinghe, Dr. P. Tharanga, Nirosh Gunawardena, Richard Nuttal, Angeline Ondaatje, Hiran Cooray, Chandrasiri Jayalath, Upali Dias, Chandani Wilson, and Prasad Ranasinghe.


Meanwhile, former Cricketer and former Member of Parliament Sanath Jayasuriya has been appointed as the Brand Ambassador for Sri Lanka Tourism.
