Tourist arrivals to Maldives in June surge 97%

Tourist arrivals to the Maldives in June surged 97 percent to 110,889 from a year ago, though the June arrival number was slightly lower than the 125,522 arrivals a month ago.

The cumulative arrivals for the first half rose 59 percent to 813,211.
Data from the Maldives Tourism Ministry showed that India continues to top the list as the largest tourist source market. 

India accounted for 14.9 percent of the total arrivals, while the United Kingdom ranked second, accounting for 11.8 percent of the arrivals, whereas Russia ranked third, accounting for 10.1 percent of the total arrivals for the month of June.
