Sri Lanka’s urban mobility is all set to witness a boost with Vega Innovations, a company known for its cutting-edge innovations and developments, and DIMO, a  leading automotive distributor joining forces.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked between the two entities recently to pave the way for the widespread distribution of the much-anticipated Elektrateq – Sri Lanka’s first completely homegrown electric three-wheeler.

“The Elektrateq represents a giant leap forward for Sri Lankan ingenuity.  We’ve designed, developed, and manufactured a product that will redefine urban mobility, all within our borders,” said Dr. Harsha Subasinghe, Chairman/CEO of Vega Innovations.

The sleek and futuristic design and features of the Elektrateq are a stark departure from traditional three-wheelers, promising a more comfortable, cost effective and environmentally friendly transportation experience.
While Vega boasts exceptional design and manufacturing capabilities, Dr. Subasinghe acknowledged the importance of a robust sales and service network for successful market penetration. This is where DIMO’s 85-year legacy comes into play.

“As a leading diversified conglomerate in Sri Lanka and pioneer in the local automobile sector representing world-renowned brands like Mercedes-Benz, Jeep, Chrysler, and TATA, DIMO is proud to collaborate with Codegen’s Elektrateq. With our expertise, we are confident this partnership will bring benefits to the country, advancing vehicle electrification while fueling the dreams and aspirations of the nation,” said Gahanath Pandithage, Group Managing Director / CEO DIMO.

This strategic partnership between Vega Innovations and DIMO promises a brighter, cleaner future for Sri Lanka’s roads, with Elektrateq positioned to become a leader in the electric mobility revolution, the two companies said in a joint statement.
