Viraj Dayaratne to assume duties as SEC Chairman

Additional Solicitor General Viraj Dayaratne is set to assume duties as the Chairman of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Sri Lanka this week, Mirror Business learns.


SEC has been without a chairman or a Commission for about two months since the interim Chairman A.R. Desapriya quit the position abruptly in mid December. 


Dayaratne, a President’s Counsel, gained his first qualification from Sri Lanka Law College in 1989-1992 and went onto complete Master of Law in International Trade Law in 2008.

He served as a Lecturer in the Law of Contracts, University of London, Bachelor of Laws Degree Course conducted by the Informatics Institute of Technology, Colombo from 2005 to 2009.
