WindForce secures solar power project in Maldives

WindForce PLC has signed an agreement for the engineering, procurement and commissioning of a 366-kilowatt peak rooftop solar power project on Cocoon Island in the Maldives, the company said in a disclosure to the Colombo Stock Exchange.

The project, valued at US $ 296,372, will be implemented on Ookolhufinolhu, in the Lhaviyani Atoll, by Cocoon Investment (Pvt.) Ltd. 

The solar installation aims to harness sustainable solar energy, to significantly reduce the resort’s carbon footprint. The project is expected to be completed within six months, underscoring WindForce’s commitment to promoting renewable energy and reducing carbon emissions, in line with the long-term economic and environmental goals.
