The crew and passengers of Russia’s flag carrier Aeroflot received a grand ceremonial welcome at Bandaranaike International Airport yesterday, as it ended a four-month-long suspension of its service to Sri Lanka. Aeroflot resumed services to Sri Lanka after a controversy that took place in early June. A legal dispute resulted in the scrapping of the Moscow-Colombo route.
According to an Aeroflot official addressing the journalists at the welcome ceremony, the airline will operate three regular flights to Colombo for the winter season. The spokesperson also shared that nearly 75 percent of the tickets to Sri Lanka from November 2022 to March 2023 are already booked.
