In a bid to foster a climate-resilient economy, Amana Bank has partnered with the inaugural Code Red Sri Lanka Climate Summit 2024, as one of its sponsors.
The summit, spearheaded by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, is a significant initiative aimed at developing a deeper understanding of various aspects of the climate crisis from a global and a Sri Lankan perspective, highlighting the potential disruptions to key economic sectors.

The three-day summit, from May 7 to 9, will witness 50+ speakers including over 15 foreign delegates across 15 thought-provoking sessions, sharing their views and creating dialogue that will help the development of a climate action blue print while also discussing on the policy changes required to support a transition towards a low carbon and climate resilient economy.

Commenting on this collaboration, Amana Bank Managing Director/CEO Mohamed Azmeer stated, “In line with our unique business model, which encourages sustainable banking practices, we are honoured to be part of the inaugural Sri Lanka Climate Summit organised by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. In today’s context, mere awareness on climate crisis is not just enough, it needs to be followed up with collective action. We believe this summit will enable meaningful discussion and action from key stakeholders to make our earth resourceful for future generations.”

Amana Bank Vice President Strategy and Sustainability Fazly Marikar said, “As a bank that promotes sustainability practices in line with our unique model, we are happy to partner with Code Red Climate Summit and engage in inclusive dialogue that will contribute to a climate-resilient economy.”
