Amana Bank provides industry training for SEUSL students

Amana Bank has partnered with the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka (SEUSL) to enhance the industry-ready skills of graduates through a specialised Industry Training Programme (ITP) which was facilitated by the Bank’s Knowledge Marketing and Financial Inclusion Unit. 


This initiative aims to cultivate a skilled workforce in banking and finance specialized in non-interest banking towards addressing the current need for capacity development in the local industry. It is a platform created for the students capitalise in learning the practical applications and enrolling for internship programs to complete their academic studies. 


A batch of students and lecturers from SEUSL attended the inaugural ITP event held at Amana Bank’s Corporate Office, where they had the opportunity to interact and learn from banking practitioners including being exposed to multiple thought-provoking sessions. The programme was concluded with an informative and inspirational session by the Bank’s Chief Operating Officer Imtiaz Iqbal, who gave valuable insights on how to build up a career in the ever-changing banking industry being relevant to the future skills.


Commenting on this collaboration, Amana Bank Chief Operational Officer Imtiaz Iqbal stated “As advocates of capacity development for our future generation, we are delighted to be an instrumental part of the Industrial Training Program for the students of the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka (SEUSL) and this opens up the other undergraduates also to experience ourdevelopment focussed people-friendly banking model. Given the dynamiclandscape, it is imperative to foster greater understanding of modern banking operationsand trends in the market.I firmly believe that this training will play a pivotal role in nurturing highly competent human resources who are future-ready.”


Commenting on this Industrial Training, Lecturer of Islamic Banking & Finance Unit of SEUSL, Dr. Rifas Abu Huraira, said, “This training was a first of its kind experience for our students understand the practical aspects and help them to develop competent banking professionals for the industry. We express our gratitude to Amana Bank for providing our students with this opportunity with a warm welcome and being ready to assist and guide our students to build up their careers.”
