Aruna Perera takes over CFA Society Sri Lanka reins

CFA Society Sri Lanka, part of the worldwide network of CFA Institute member societies that lead the investment profession globally, announced the appointment of Aruna Perera, CFA as its 10th President, at the Annual general Meeting held virtually recently.
He takes the reins from Dinesh Warusavitharana, CFA.


Perera is a leading finance professional counting over two decades of experience in financial analytics, corporate finance and valuation management primarily in the blue-chip and corporate sectors in Sri Lanka. He obtained his CFA charter in 2007 and has been a board member of CFA Society Sri Lanka since 2015. Prior to his appointment as President, he served the CFA Society Sri Lanka in multiple roles, including Vice President, Treasurer, GIPS Standards Chair, Research Challenge Chair and University Outreach Chair. 
Perera said, “I am honoured to assume the leadership of CFA Society Sri Lanka, whose mission to promote the highest standards of ethics, education and professional excellence is more important than ever, as our industry and country face disruption from many quarters. I look forward to applying my wide-ranging experience and knowledge together with the board in the service of its mission and key stakeholders.”


Perera currently works as Group Chief Financial Officer at Analytical Instruments (Pvt.) Limited (AIPL). Prior to joining AIPL, he was Director Corporate Finance and Valuation Consulting at PwC Sri Lanka. During his career of 25 years, Perera has worked in multiple organisations, including Moody’s Analytics Knowledge Services (Pvt.) Ltd, John Keells Holdings PLC and Ernst & Young Sri Lanka. 
Perera holds an MBA from the University of Leicester, UK and a BSc (accounting) from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He is also an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka.
